Rosenior says Estevao cried in the dressing room after injury
Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior says Estevao cried in the dressing room as he revealed the teenage Brazilian was substituted for a hamstring injury during Saturday night's 1-0 defeat to Manchester United.
The forward was withdrawn 16 minutes into play after going down in need of treatment after a promising start. Estevao was then replaced by Alejandro Garnacho
Asked for an update, Rosenior said: "He was crying at half-time.
"Really devastated for him. It looks like it's his hamstring and that's a moment actually when he's running through on their goal for a one v one and pulls his hamstring in that moment.
"They're good lads, I have to say. They're honest, they're working hard. I don't want them to feel that everything's against them. And I hope Este comes back sooner rather than later."
Enzo Fernandez, who made a return to the Chelsea squad after serving an internal suspension, also came off with an injury.
Rosenior was more hopeful the Argentine's injury wasn't too significant, applauding Fernandez's industry throughout the game.
"I think it was his calf. I feel, I'm hoping it's cramp, he's getting work on it right now, because we want him obviously fit for Tuesday.
"I think the fact that he ran himself into the ground for the club tonight, and I expect nothing different from a man of his stature and his quality."
Despite Fernandez being the usul understudy to Reece James as captain, Moises Caicedo was wore the armband during the game. Asked about the decision to keep Caicedo as captain in James' absence, Rosenior added:
"Enzo played like a captain today. I thought he was magnificent.
"He ran himself into the ground. He gave everything, he played forward. He was unlucky not to score on a couple of occasions.
"I think that shows actually where he's been with us all this while. I'm very, very happy with his performance.I'm very, very happy with him.
"Even though tonight we didn't get the result that I felt we deserved."
